TREASURER’S
REPORT:
We currently
have the following in our account:
$256.28 at the scout office
$3,613.89
in our checking account (of that, $2,495.81 is scout balances and $1,118.08 is
the troop balance.).
We have paid
for wreaths and popcorn. There is also
a $900 check that needs to be deposited.
October and
November Concession results:
Boys: $1,478.42
Troop: $633.00
Joyce gave a
brief explanation to the new Webelos parents on how our concession fundraising
works. She still has some dates open
for any scout that wants to sign up.
She asked that you see her if you were interested in signing up to work
any of those dates.
Doug Case made
a motion and Cindy Moody seconded that we keep the split of proceeds earned at
the concession stand @ 70/30 (with 70%
going into the boys accounts and 30% going into the Troop account) – passed.
SCOUT SUNDAY:
·
Scout Sunday is February 8, 2003
at 11:30 Mass.
·
Alex Gilbert will be the reader
·
We will have displays in the room
with coffee and donuts
·
We will also serve Coffee and
Donuts
·
Al Gore needs the names of the
scouts getting their Par Vouli Dei
SCOUT
INSURANCE:
The Council
will not pick up the insurance premium for the troop this year. Tom will research what kind of coverage we
have had and what premiums have been paid in the past and get back to us at the
next parents meeting so we can take a vote on what we want to do during the
coming year.
MERIT BADGE
UNIVERSITY:
The Merit Badge
University that has been traditionally put on by the Wabuha district each
spring at UNI has been cancelled this year.
We will look into other merit badge universities to see if there is one
we think would be worth attending.
SCOUTARAMA:
There is an
Expo to highlight boy scout skills on February 28th. Nathan will ask the boys if they want to do
something for this. There can be no
fires and no knives. It would need to
be some kind of exhibit that will be interesting and attractive to the
people. If the boys want to set up an
exhibit, Nathan will contact the person in charge.
STURGIS FALLS:
The District
wants to do something with all the boy scouts in the Sturgis Falls Parade. Nathan will ask the boys if this would be
interested in being involved in the Sturgis Falls Parade.
JOE BLANSHAN
MEMORIAL:
We discussed
what kind of memorial we would like to give to Joe Blanshan’s family that would
show our appreciation for all the work Joe did for the Troop. Nathan will ask the boys what they would like
to do. We would like to have this done
by the Court of Honor.
COURT OF HONOR:
The Court of
Honor will be held on March 7th at 4:30. The meal will be at 4:30 with awards at 5:30.
EAGLE SCOUT
PLAQUE:
Tom asked if we
would be interested in purchasing or building some kind of plaque that would
list all the names of any Scout from Troop 370 that has ever gotten his
eagle. It could be something that we
could add to as the scouts became eagles and hopefully could be displayed
somewhere in the parish center. Al Gore
will check into where something like this can be displayed and get back to us.
WINTER CAMPOUT:
The winter
campout will be held on January 30th at Ewalu. We need to:
·
Get the contract signed
·
Get the departure time set
·
Invite the Webelos
·
Send the deposit
·
Get a list of adults that want to
go
·
Get ready to do a Klondike warm-up
NEW SCOUTS:
We discussed
how to integrate the new Webelos coming into the Troop. It was decided that we would follow the
suggestion of the Council. They will
have their own patrol for the first year while they work on their beginning
requirements. After the first year we
will integrate them between patrols.
At the first
meeting, they will need to pick a patrol name.
The meeting
adjourned with the remaining topics to be discussed at our next parents
meeting.
Meeting
adjourned.
